Sometimes all you need is some lonely times in the house and get some wine, then put in some soul hip-hop bangers like Carle Pen, the self-proclaimed “Queen of RapSoul,” latest album “Chronological Ballistics,” then enjoy your day with 20 amazing songs which can’t be skipped! Now here’s a gist, this album comes out as her debut, and what do I always tell you guys about debuts? You know the drill, it’s where all the magic happens, debuts comes in hot and ready to go and it’s no surprise Carls Pen did amazingly on this album. Carle who has been compared to icons like Missy Elliot, Faith Evans, and Lauryn Hill, I love how she just demonstrates her versatility across genres, including Pop, Dancehall, Hip-Hop, and R&B. So embrace yourself and hop on the bus and let’s go on “Chronological Ballistics” 20-track emotional journey😉.

Now this album “Chronological Ballistics” ain’t your normal album tho, this album has got the juice, sauce, word play, undeniable smooth rap game and it’s here to take you on an emotional rollercoaster journey. See man, the album is classic, from lush melodies to heartfelt lyrics and celestial harmonies, each song brings together a captivating creativity of sounds that is enjoyable and relatable AF. Then you have Carle Pen’s vocals taking centre stage on every song and giving us a raw, emotional and authenticity with every verse. See the moment you hit on the intro, you’re hooked and glued to await what track one has to offer and oh my days, as soon as the beat drop for track 1, you realize you’re in for a feast.

This album wouldn’t have been fruitful without the help of Brian Johnson, also known as “B~nYce,” who did the musical production and crafting beats that really complement Carle Pen’s dynamic vocals. And together they created and album that goes beyond genres and celebrates life’s deepest moments, especially from those boring moments to those cherished moments we don’t wana forget. Well according to Carle Pen “Chronological Ballistics” is more than just an album; to her it’s deep personal reflection of her own experiences. With each song embedded with a sense of intimacy, and asking listeners to connect deeply and find comfort in each track, for there’s a song for everyone.

Now welcome aboard, after the intro is track 1 dubbed “Straightryda”. In this song you feel Carle Pen’s bold declaration of self, setting the stage for the rest of the album to follow suit. The track starts beautifully with a low tempo hip-hop beat infused with some R&B vibes that I love soo much. You can feel vibes if icons like Keri Hilson in here as the song progresses but very different and unique. The lyrics lay emphasis her journey from childhood to adulthood. Especially with the way everything panned out, the struggles, the ups and lows in life. You can hear the refrain “you don’t really know about me, I’m about to tell you about me”, telling you how much what you see is not what you think you know, there’s more to it and all she had to go through to he where she is. One thing you can’t deny about Carle is her lyrics, flow and delivery and on this song, she blended in rap with soulful vocals which embodied confidence and how she overcame her struggles.

Another track on the album that just catches your attention is “All Around.” This track starts vibrantly with an infectious beat which embodies energy and swagger, then Carle makes an entrance with her flow, then the vocals takes centre stage where she switches between catchy hooks and rapid-fire verses. The song just portrays success and resilience, like after all the hardwork and everything you had to go through to achieve it, celebrate life, enjoy your success and don’t forget the energy you put in. What I love most about this song is the beats, those pulsating beats and infectious melodies are epic and addictive, making the track an intriguing listen. Then there’s this hidden gem track called cameras, wow, this is a dancehall type of track, I love the vibe in there soo much..which I want you to find out how the track pans out hahaha, see like I said, there’s a track for everyone.

The last song I wanna touch on it head is “Winner”. This song brings the album to an end on a high note. It’s a song that strengthens, empower and give you self-assurance. It’s a beautiful track in which Carle Pen’s vocals just conquers over a triumphant beat, where she delivers a message of confidence and resilience that stays with you deeply long after the last beat drops. This is a beautiful way to end an album, taking you through her childhood, down to the struggles she had to face growing up, to where she was tasting success to finally enjoying life and asking us all to believe and have faith in ourselves, and keep going with confidence and zeal. I say this is a solid 10/10 project, crafted from the depth of her heart, spiced and served hot for us to feast.

Well “Chronological Ballistics” is an album that just grows on you from start to finish, the moment you hit play on the intro, there’s no going back. The album just goes on to show Carle Pen’s undeniable talent and artistic vision. With the way she blends genres and makes the most of it from difficult melodies and beats, I say this album is worth it and there go ahead and give it a good listen, while treating yourself to some good weekend vibes with this album.
