3 min read

Yoo!! We got the latest banger in town and shh trust me this one is lit. This amazing married duo really cooked this one, which got me wowed and had to listen on repeat. Lemme introduce you to Cliff & Susan, the dynamic married musical duo from Little Rock, Arkansas, who released their latest country single, “Neon Dreams” on October 6th, 2023. The song which was written by the talented Cliff Prowse, Susan Erwin, and Bree Ogden, tells you it’s no joke of a song. This track offers a glimpse of their upcoming album, “Fiddle & Keys,” which is set to drop on October 27th. The song serves as a tribute to the unyielding spirit of aspiring artists, showing the excitement and feeling of performing live and the desire to reach for the stars. It speaks to the universal idea of chasing one’s dreams against all odds, fueled by a genuine love for the art rather than the fame and fortune.

The song “Neon Dreams” is not just a song with catchy beats, but rather it’s a message to the dreamers and go-getters who believe the stage is where they truly belong. Where they can showcase their talent, passion and love to the world. This song reminds us that regardless of whether fame and fortune knock on the door, the actual reward is found in the search and real joy of doing what you love and sharing it with an audience.

CliffSusan met on stage in 2016. Since then, they’ve performed at over 200 shows each year, released standouts like “Drivin’ Me Crazy” and “Fiddle & Keys,” and even graced the nationally televised Huckabee Show. Their musical journey has led them to open for national acts such as ZZ Top and Niko Moon. Beyond music, the couple operates Big Red Dog Productions, a music production company. Their Yadaloo Music & Arts Festival has earned them accolades as award-winning event promoters. They also host a podcast and run the Entertainers Academy to support other independent artists. Their home is shared with three little dogs in Little Rock, Arkansas.

“Neon Dreams” sets the stage with its opening lines that speak of vivid reminiscences: “Rips and blues with a couple of letters gone, the doors don’t open till 8.” This conjures the image of a small, late-night venue, perhaps a beloved local dive. The reference to Joe’s number written on the wall adds a touch of nostalgia, suggesting that this place holds a piece of the past within its walls. As the song progresses, it encourages the audience to turn up the music and let loose. The lyrics gives off the feeling of being at a live performance, raising hands in the air and letting the music wash over. The chorus captures the essence of the song with lines like “Neon, neon, stage you wanna be on” and “getting high like Elon,” alluding to the electric, intoxicating energy of the stage and the thrill of reaching new heights.

The song’s essence is rooted in the idea of making noise and leaving a mark, of chasing one’s dreams tirelessly. The final lines “There ain’t nothing better than the feeling you get when you got ’em in the palm of your hand” emphasize the deep connection between the artist and their audience, reminding us of the excitement and energy shared during a live performance.
