4 min read

The world was a really great before the COVID-19 pandemic hit us, and man that sh** really cost us dearly, loved ones lost, families lost and even in all we couldn’t have anything face to face and personal, everything was virtual and I always said on the amidst of all that, the lockdowns did us great musically and really gave us some hot bangers and also pushed people to discover their talent and man Jody Cooper here has got something beautiful, amazing and really worth every ear to give it a listen, he called this one “Isolation”. Just the name and oh I guess you already feeling the vibe and message in the song already haha. Don’t be itchy, relax and lemme glide you through this masterpiece. But did you know the Love & Loss Project by Jody Cooper is an unconventional anthology, breaking traditional album norms? Oh oh well make sure to check that one out and learn a thing or two about love & loss.

Now Cooper’s latest single, “Isolation,” captures the collective experience of recent global challenges, offering a reflective depth that resonates with touching lyrics and soulful melodies along with the struggles we all go through and in all finding solace in this song too. One thing about Cooper is his performance style, it gives off vibes of Jeff Buckley’s emotional intensity and Freddie Mercury’s expressiveness, with the way he captivates audiences with his versatile voice and effortless instrumental transitions haha man, you should know you’re in for a treat. The talent in there is crazy and awesome and trust me his latest single is gonna take you by surprise. So let’s get going.

Now with this single “Isolation,” the song comes from Cooper’s personal reaction to the world’s crisis, laying emphasis on the moment in time and the shared experience we all faced. Man the emotional depth of the song is crazy and how it takes us back in time to that pandemic and the kinda sh** we all faced is beautiful. But not only does it gives us memories from the pandemic but also sheds light on the current crisis the world is going through, war here, killings everywhere and people going through messy stuffs they can’t control. Sometimes life gets tougher and you can’t seem to see the light, everywhere is filled with darkness and there seems to be no way out but just hold on, and keep going, there’s light that will take that darkness away.

The song also captures the most important feelings during the pandemic, reflecting the overall tone of Cooper’s work during that period. I love how the song starts off, with those piano tones and how soft and cool Cooper’s vocals are, it captures the listener’s attention and gets them hooked to see out the track. As the song goes on the drums kicks in and adds this extra touch to the whole song and makes it soo soothing, but the most beautiful thing is how Cooper switches his voices, oh my goodness that is Soo cool and beautiful. You don’t get good music like these anymore and trust me, this is one of those that can kickstart your new year with hope and resilience.

Sometimes one need to move from where they are to another place in order to get their sh** together and meet new opportunities and without doubt Cooper’s move from the UK to Germany impacted Cooper’s musical career and provided new tastes to music and also got him many opportunities compared to those struggles he faced in the UK. It was a beautiful moment when he earned a Guinness World Record with “Sense of Sound,” where over 1600 people sang The Beatles’ “Love Me Do” in Liverpool, was an electrifying experience that showcased the power of music and its ability to bring people together, influencing Cooper’s belief that through music, anything is possible.

Cooper’s “Isolation” stands as a powerful rock ballad that carried a powerful message that ask us listeners to take a time and reflect on those experiences during hard times and when things are crazy and we feel it’s all lost and gone while also providing a place for solitude and uniting our shared experiences. See the delivery, production, vocals and lyrics makes this song a must listen and one you can’t listen to once. So go ahead and give this song a maad repeat and enjoy some good music this week.
