I think we had the best of music scenes during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially during lockdowns, it was one of the best times to be alive musically. Best tunes, soundtracks, best albums and best songs. People really out in much effort and brought out their best , so any album or song recorded during that era is actually straightout banger, no cap. Well I’ve got some good news for y’all and that’s cos Victor V. Gurbo and Mark Caserta has finally release the second installment of “the Quarantine Sessions” with “Haunted Houses & Empty Beds” which was made during the COVID-19 lockdown. An album that’s got all the sauce and magic, it was really cooked to satisfy everyone with good taste. Now relax and lemme take you through some tracks on the album.
Lemme start with the first track “Ghost Woman Blues” which was written by Victor V. Gurbo himself, actually draws inspiration from Mike Flanagan’s Netflix hits “The Haunting of Hill House” and “The Haunting of Bly Manor”. Gurbo’s original work talks about how heartbreak is a vengeful spirit that is really frightening. A lot of the time we don’t often see it but sh** is crazy and can make u destroy even innocent lovers, and in the end that vengeful spirit will destroy you. The vocals, rhythm acoustic guitar and organ by Gurbo with the sounds of lead electric guitar, bass guitar and theremin by Mark Caserta makes this song just freaking amazing.
The second track which is a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Black Rider” from his 2020 album “Rough and Rowdy Ways” is a perfect reinterpretation of the song. Gurbo’s vocals and Caserta’s lead electric guitar mixes perfectly to make the song so good you can’t help but accept that it really complements Dylan’s songwriting skills and probably might be enjoyable than the original, I love covers Soo much cos they give another dimension to the original making both unique and special. Don’t wanna ruin the party just yet so why don’t you go ahead and have a feel of the magic from the COVID-19 era and see the energy and buzz it will bring to you.
“Haunted Houses & Empty Beds” shows the creativity of the duo to over come anything and make music no matter what they face. This duo have really proved they’re one of the best in their genre and their creativity knows no limit.
