3 min read

When life hits you hard and goes down on you, it is there you need to gather that strength and wake up again and rise. Cos if you stay down there no one’s getting you up, so you gotta rise again and find yourself and that’s exactly what Manchester’s own Jay Kurdy, in collaboration with Rob Wheeler, tell us in his latest single “Rise Again”. A song that oozes resilience and redemption, telling you that pain will fade and failure may step in, but when happens, i want you to remember this song Rise Again. Man I love how the track brings back this 90s-inspired rap vibes and it’s sick, showcasing how Kurdy has mastered his craft with those conscious lyrics and old-school flow. It’s really a vibe and I love it, so hop on the train and let’s go for a ride.

Now this song “Rise Again” just carries the core message that Jay Kurdy effortlessly imparts to the nation’s youth, and what’s that? That when failure comes, it doesn’t me it’s the end, failure is just a stepping stone to get your ass up and keep fighting till you achieve your purpose. The song starts beautifully with a short prayer and then Kurdy comes in with his sick flow urging us listeners to believe in ourselves, listen to your inner person which is asking you to keep going. The lyrics just portrays boasts for strength in humility, and how to keep going, which just strikes your soul and pierces through to your conscience and resonating with you on a personal level, especially if you’ve been through setbacks. People won’t be there to help you, and they may even be happy to watch you fail, so it’s just you and Kurdy wanna see you Rise Again. It’s not always our fault, sometimes darkness consumed us and we lost our way, but it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t keep fighting it. This is a masterpiece and what I love the most about this song is not just the rap, beats and flow but man the way Rob Wheeler sings those chorus, sweet Jesus,wow it’s soo smooth and soothing, keeping you glued and repeating the song all over. This is awesome and beautiful, you don’t get many good hip-hop like these anymore, but if you looking for one that’s actually the hip-hop we miss then Rise Again from Kurdy is the one.

One may ask but what inspired Kurdy to make this song? Well I’ve got even a better idea for you, just watch the music video, which was filmed at the SBG Rochdale gym, which actually hold significant meaning for the artist. It’s where Kurdy and former Marine and British MMA World Champion Martin “50 Cal” Stapleton crossed paths and trained together. This shared journey symbolizes Kurdy’s ability to rise above his own challenges through martial arts and music. So from Kurdy’s personal story, he was the only black child in his school and has to overcome all those struggles and challenges through martial arts and music, hinting at how determined and resilient he was, ans that’s the spirit he wants us to have when darkness consumes us. And now guess what? He works in troubled wards, sharing his experiences to inspire the next generation to find strength in their struggles and rise again.

Well Jay Kurdy’s “Rise Again” is a powerful song that tells you to keep believing when you think there’s no hope anymore, and you can always Rise Again. This is how you make music, the lyrics, rap, beats and chorus just epitomizes sheer quality and top notch delivery. So why don’t you go ahead and give this song a good listen and have a beautiful weekend. ENJOY!! Make sure to check him out on the links below for more;
