3 min read

GUYS IT’S FINALLY HERE!.I know , I know, I’m fan girling right now but hey, you would be too if you had any idea what this EP really is. If you’ve ever heard of the name “Gene Pritsker” then you’d know why this EP getting released has me all gassed up. Titled “Ljiljana Winkler and the Solenne Band perform the music of Gene Pritsker”, even the name of this EP shows you how different it is from anything you’ve ever heard. Unlike the regular EPs out there, this EP is a collection of 2 very different types of music. The first one being “Paths” and the second being “Blues From An Airport Bar”.

The EP starts with the song “Path” which is actually a remake of an old R&B song that’s been made different to sound a ltttle bit like jazz. The Solenne Band which is made up of Saori Anraku on piano, Peter Oswald on trumpet, Kay Fischer on saxophone, Uli Fiedler on bass and Harald Alt playing the drums while Ljiljana Winkler delivers the vocals, makes this song sound like it was made by angels. The beats, the lyrics , the vocals and the delivery are just heavenly. They really gave it their all to make this song sound like nothing you’ve ever heard. You’ve got to listen to this song, man.

Now the twist, the EP takes a whole different turn and gets much deeper when it gets to “Blues From An Airport Bar”. Divided into 4 different parts, “Blues From An Airport Bar” is actually based on the poetry of Jacob Miller with each part about a different experience people go through. Winkler together with the band, adds beats, lyrics and their own magic to Jacob Miller’s poetry to make something that anyone who listens to this EP can’t resist. I’m telling you, the very moment you finish listening to this EP, you’d wish there was more for you to listen to. The experience after listening to this beautiful masterpiece is heavenly and one you’d wish never ends.

Under the guidance of Gene Pritsker, Winkler and the band have combined jazz and opera blues to make a real masterpiece. I can’t lie, you can’t find anything bad to say about this EP, from the start to the ending, all you can hear is what real talent really sounds like. They’ve really polished this EP to perfection and this just shows how much we’d be enjoying amazing tracks  if such talented artists worked together all the time.

This EP just shows you much dedication and talent can push the boundaries of music to combine different genres to make something this truly amazing. Each and every song on this EP is just amazing. Even though “Path” is just a remake of an old classic, i can proudly say, it is way better than the original. In my opinion, This EP is a solid 10/10. If you’re tired of listening to the same old songs you listen to everyday, go ahead and give this EP a listen and i promise you, it will even change your whole music taste. Make sure to click on the links below for more info;
